Research Assistant at the Molecular Bionics Research Group (RA_GB)

Introduction to the vacant position:

The Molecular Bionics Group (MBG) is looking for a research assistant to support our in vivo experimentations. We are searching for an individual with experience in vivo experimentation and nanomedicine to join our group. At the MBG, we are interested in how molecules, macromolecules, viruses, vesicles, and whole cells traffic across our body barriers. We combine novel microscopic tools with theoretical and computational physics to study biological transport from single molecules, and cell membranes, to the whole organism. We thus translate the acquired knowledge to bioengineer novel nanomedicines, combining soft matter physics with synthetic chemistry. Here, we design bionic units that mimic specific biological functions and introduce operations that do not exist in nature. We apply a constructionist approach where we mimic biological complexity in the form of design principles to produce functional units from simple building blocks and their interactions. We call such an effort, Molecular Bionics, and it involves inputs from physical science and engineering from one side and biomedical sciences.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • In vivo experimental design, management, and data analysis
  • Bio biodistribution studies and surgical procedures
  • Tissue processing and histological analysis
  • Lab management support
