The 7th edition of the Catalunya Ràdio Premis Emprenedors Digitals (Digital Entrepreneur Awards), organised by the Revolució 4.0 Catalan radio programme, took place on Wednesday 18 June at the Antigua Fábrica Damm in Barcelona. This year, LUMIRIS, a spin-off from the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) specialising in improving assisted reproduction treatments, won the Catalunya Ràdio Digital Entrepreneur Award in the Revelation category.

We are very grateful for this award and recognition. It has been a long journey, involving effort and dedication from the entire team.

LUMIRIS has developed a non-invasive diagnostic imaging technology capable of analysing the metabolism of human embryos and selecting the most suitable ones for implantation in the uterus. This innovation has the potential to significantly reduce the time and treatment cycles required for in vitro fertilisation, thus optimising the results of fertility treatments and minimising their emotional toll.

“We are very grateful for this award and recognition. It has been a long journey, involving effort and dedication from the entire team. This recognition gives us the strength to continue working to bring our technology to clinics and help those in greatest need,” said Anna Seriola, co-founder and scientific director of LUMIRIS, during the awards ceremony.

Samuel Ojosnegros, the company’s co-founder and CEO, as well as the principal investigator of the IBEC’s Reproductive Health Bioengineering group, emphasised:

With this technology, we aim to alleviate some of the emotional distress that can accompany these processes and make them more efficient.

“We are dedicated to assisted reproduction patients, who generously donate their embryos so that we can conduct research. With this technology, we aim to alleviate some of the emotional distress that can accompany these processes and make them more efficient.”

The event, which was hosted by journalist Xantal Llavina, featured the participation of Catalunya Ràdio director Jordi Borda and digital consultant Genís Roca, who was the gala’s patron. There was also a musical performance by the band Habla de Mí en Presente.
