Biochemist at the Bioengineering in Reproductive Health Research Group

The lab:

Our laboratory is comprised of a multidisciplinary team where biologists, embryologists, biophysicists, clinicians, and business developers synergize to create a unique environment shaped by science and entrepreneurship. The Open Innovation lab provides solutions to embryology and cell therapy fields by combining bioengineering with advanced imaging technologies. Due to the high translational component of our research, we have established collaboration contracts with the pharma industry, hospitals and venture capital to bring our technology from the lab to the clinics and to the market.

The project:

This project aims to explore the different components of the human plasma and use them as supplements for biological applications, such as cell or embryo culture, cosmetics or regenerative medicine. We are interested in exploring by products of the Cohn plasma fractionation process as potential new products with biological activity. The project will also explore the plasma fraction containing platelets due to their high content in growth factors. This project will be implemented in close collaboration with the pharma industry. The candidate will help to define the parameters required for isolation, purification and characterization of said fractions. Cell culture specialists will be working in the project and in collaboration with the candidate will evaluate the potency and usability of the purified products.
