Junior Project Officer at the Strategic Initiatives Unit

Introduction to the vacant position:

The Strategic Initiatives unit at IBEC provides strategic advice and support to the Director in the deployment of the Strategic Plan of IBEC. Among others, the unit fosters and coordinates
(a) institutional and strategic projects and alliances such as Severo Ochoa, BIST, EIT Health and institutional networks as NanoMed Spain, (b) international alliances and partnerships,
(c) deployment of Open Science, and (d) the scientific activities of the institute.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Support the application, management and monitoring of strategic and transversal projects, including initiatives related to institutional development (i.e. Catalan language implementation, education, art and science, sustainability, open science)
  • Contribute to the coordination and follow-up of institutional networks and collaborations at local, national, and international levels.
  • Assist in the planning, organization, and execution of academic and institutional events, such as seminars, congresses, workshops, and visits.
  • Collaborate with the preparation of reports, documentation, and follow-up materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaise with external entities (universities, public administrations, and partner institutions) involved in the above-mentioned projects and networks.

Requirements for candidates:

Essential:

  • University degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Biotechnology, or Biomedical Engineering.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize and coordinate tasks or projects, ideally in a research or institutional setting.
  • Skills and competencies:
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities and attention to detail.
  • Capacity to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Good understanding of research environments and institutional structures.
  • Competencies and skills: Communication, Teamwork and collaboration, Commitment, Proactivity, Integrity, Critical and Analytical thinking.
  • Excellent command of Catalan, Spanish, and English, both written and spoken.

Advantageous:

  • Experience in experience in project management or research support, preferably in an academic or R&D environment.

  • Full time 1-year contract with a possibility of extension.
