Innovation Project Manager

Introduction to the vacant position:

The Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), a cutting-edge research center based in Barcelona, is looking for an Innovation Project Manager, an exciting full-time, development opportunity to join our Projects Office in Barcelona.

His/her role will be to enhance the impact and promote the valorisation of results obtained in the framework of IBEC’s European research projects, according to the activities planned in the project StrengtHE (GPE2022-001085) funded by the Agencia Estatal de Investigación (MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033).

He/she will closely interact with Tech Transfer and Business Development Unit, being a facilitator between this Unit and Projects Office with the final goal of fostering innovation and technology transfer among IBEC researchers.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

The extent of your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Funding: advise in new EU grant opportunities for the valorisation and technology transfer of results obtained in projects conducted at IBEC. Represent IBEC in European platforms and other thematic and strategic events and conferences. Analysis of EC documents and policies, technology platform documents and research agendas.
  • Project formulation: for competitive grant proposals, collaborate in the definition of project goals, write and develop the expected impact and key performance indicators, advise on project partners and key stakeholders to promote the transfer of results.
  • Project management: promote the valorisation of results obtained in EU projects, encouraging the use of tools and initiatives from the European Commission for this purpose; collaborate in preparation of scientific reports. Contribute to the sustainability of current active EU projects beyond their final execution date.
  • Transversal tasks: promote the participation of companies, especially Spanish ones, within European consortia of proposals coordinated by IBEC. Analyse and foster synergies between active projects at IBEC and other EU funded projects. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key players.
  • Liaising between researchers and other IBEC research management areas, particularly Tech Transfer and Business Development, Strategic Initiatives and Communication to foster the impact of IBEC’s research projects.

Requirements for candidates:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics or experimental/life sciences. PhD will be viewed favorably.
  • Previous experience working in technology transfer activities.
  • Knowledge of European public research funding system.
  • Excellent writing skills to build high quality grant proposals, particularly focusing on innovation their potential and impact.
  • Full command of Spanish and English. Catalan is a plus.
  • Competences: Communication, teamwork, proactivity, problem solving, critical thinking, networking.

Advantageous:

  • Knowledge of public grant applications, particularly those aimed at valorisation/proof of concept.
  • Knowledge of public research National and Catalan systems.
  • Research experience in an international research environment.
  • Previous experience in sourcing relevant market data for grant proposals.

  • Working conditions:
    • Full-time, open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration. Contract duration: 1.5 years.

    • Teleworking, up to 2 days per week.
