The Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), a cutting-edge research center based in Barcelona, is looking for a Project Manager to oversee and manage the participation of IBEC in the Next Generation Funds.

This is an exciting full-time, development opportunity for a new Project Manager to join the Strategic Initiatives unit and reporting to the Head of the Unit.

The Strategic Initiatives Unit provides strategic advice and support to the Director in the deployment of the Strategic Plan of IBEC. Among others, the unit fosters and coordinates (a) institutional and strategic projects and alliances such as Severo Ochoa, BIST, EIT Health and institutional networks as the NanoMed Spain, (b) international alliances and partnerships, (c) the scientific activities of the institute and (d) open science deployment.

The contract will be funded by the Project “Biotecnología aplicada a la Salud”, approved as Planes Complementarios con CCAA (C17.I1) in the framework of Plan de Recuperación, transformación y Resiliencia. This action is cofunded by the Plan de Recuperación, transformación y resiliencia and the Generalitat de Catalunya.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

The extent of your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Monitor the implementation of projects and the timely reporting and delivery of all project commitments.
  • Inform and advise project partners on financial and administrative rules, while ensuring the conformity with the relevant procedures.
  • Support the Project Coordinators in planning, producing, collecting and reviewing the deliverables and outcomes to ensure their timely delivery.
  • Provide management tools (e.g. guides, templates, etc.) for the consortium.
  • Monitor all contractual obligations and draft additional agreements.
  • Track all project related costs in collaboration with IBEC support units: distribution and transfer of funding, keeping records on spending and preparing financial reports for project funders and auditors.
  • Schedule projects meetings: prepare agendas and circulate reference materials for the meetings and writing the minutes.
  • Engage in communication tasks
  • Define and implement a KPI monitoring systems to measure and report impact of the projects
  • Provide support in identification of funding opportunities and proposal writing for follow-up research initiatives

Requirements for candidates:

Essential:

  • PhD in experimental sciences.
  • Minimum three year experience in research project management.
  • Full command of Spanish and English. Catalan is a plus
  • Competencies: Communication, teamwork, proactivity, customer orientation, planning and organizational skills.

Advantageous:

  • Knowledge of public and private research funding systems (European and Spanish).
  • Experience in a biomedical research projects.
  • Experience in the preparation and submission of competitive project.

    • Full-time, 3 years fixed-term contract
