The EIT Health “From Scientists to Innovators for Industry” 2023 Program Concludes Successfully

IBEC participates as a partner in the EIT Health SCI FI (From Scientists to Innovators) program. A course for scientists from all over Europe wishing to transition into industry. In the 2023 edition, IBEC’s commitment went beyond providing its bioengineering innovation expertise, actively engaging in the program’s kick-off organization.

December 12th marked the final event of the EIT Health SCI FI (From Scientists to Innovators) 2023 program, a celebration of innovation and collaboration.

Together with IBEC and other academic and industry partners, the EIT Health SCI FI program serves as a transformative course for scientists from all over Europe wishing to transition into the industry. This initiative, led by the Medical University of Lodz in partnership with a consortium of 17 European institutions, provides scientists with invaluable field skills through real-life case studies and networking opportunities with health industry recruiters.

IBEC’s involvement in the 2023 edition of the program extended beyond expertise, actively participating in the organization of the in-person launch of this program’s edition, held in Barcelona and co-organized with the Centre for Genomic Regulation.

Throughout the three-month online learning program, participants, which included two IBEC researchers, were immersed in a world of hands-on experience and real-world problem-solving. In this year’s edition, five case studies were presented by Boehringer Ingelheim, Novartis, Roche, Deloitte, and Siemens Healthineers.

The participants collaborated with industry leaders, presenting solutions to challenges in heart failure, patient focus, adherence to discharge protocols, and innovative safety monitoring platforms. The commitment to solving challenges in chronic patient care, breast cancer detection, and more was evident.

The final event witnessed the presentation of solutions by eight teams to industry cases. All participants stood out, demonstrating the skills acquired and innovative solutions presented during the program.

Moreover, last November, the EIT Health SCI FI program was awarded second place at the Emerging Europe Awards in Brussels, in the category of Future-Proof Education Initiative of the Year. These Awards are an annual celebration of Central & Southeast Europe’s achievements in sustainability, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

As SCI FI 2023 concludes, participants are encouraged to continue fostering innovation. The Final Event in Erlangen, Germany, marked a significant step for these participants entering the healthcare industry.

While this marks the end of the 2023 edition, IBEC looks forward to staying connected with participants through the alumni network. For more insights into SCI FI 2023, visit EIT Health website.
