Group leaders Damien Lacroix, Antonio Juarez, Gabriel Gomila and Daniel Navajas presented their work to the six-strong panel, which included expert scientists from Italy, Canada, France, the US and Sweden. Xavier Trepat, new group leader of the Integrative cell and tissue dynamics team, was also evaluated.
After the visit IBEC’s director, Josep Planell, reported that the members of the ISC were ‘favorably impressed’ by the work presented by the evaluated groups and that the Committee has a positive opinion of IBEC in terms of both the quality of the research carried out here and also of its strategy on an institutional level.
The ISC plays a key role in the activities of the institute, focusing specially on the selection and evaluation processes of the research lines leaders. It is composed of international renowned scientists in different bioengineering fields, as well as professionals in key areas relating to the activities of IBEC, such as the validation of medical technologies.
