The second IBEC-WCH Precision Medicine Conference took place last week in Chengdu, China. This is a partnership between the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) and the West China Hospital (WCH) of Sichuan University, which aims to strengthen scientific collaboration between the two countries.
The Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) and the West China Hospital (WCH) of Sichuan University continue to strengthen their strategic alliance in the field of precision medicine. Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in 2023, the two institutions held the second IBEC-WCH Precision Medicine Conference in Chengdu on 27-29 September 2024.
The event brought together 16 international experts in biomedical engineering to share the latest advances in areas such as organs-on-a-chip, tissue engineering, nanorobots, stem cell therapy and regenerative medicine. Presentations highlighted cutting-edge topics on the integration of biomedicine and engineering, addressing diseases such as cancer, neurological disorders and rare diseases.
In this framework of international cooperation, IBEC and WCH continue to advance their mission to promote a global dialogue on how advanced biomedical technologies can improve the precision and efficiency of disease diagnosis and treatment. This collaboration between IBEC and WCH comes at a time when scientific relations between Spain and China are strengthening. On 4 September, the Ministries of Science of both countries signed an agreement to promote scientific cooperation. The agreement aims to promote the implementation of joint research activities and the participation of scientific and technical personnel in high-impact national research projects, an objective that perfectly reflects the spirit of this IBEC-WCH alliance in precision medicine.
