Laboratory Technician at the Pluripotency for Organ Regeneration Research Group

Introduction to the vacant position:

The Pluripotency for Organ Regeneration Research Group is looking for a Laboratory Technician to develop scientific support to the research activities of the group in the framework of the project entitled “Modelling Ataxia Telangiectasia (A-T) pathogenesis and therapeutics using human pluripotent stem cells and genetic engineering”. The objective of the project is to generate ATM-defective human pluripotent stem cell lines via CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing to capture the genetic background of AT patients.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of human pluripotent stem cells (culture, passage, frozen stocks preparation)
  • Support on generation and characterization of ATM KO and KI cell lines from human pluripotent stem cells
  • Generation and characterization of Cerebral Organoids from ATM KO and KI human pluripotent stem cells by RT-PCR, WB, immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy techniques

Requirements for candidates:

Essential:

  • Degree in biology, biotechnology, or similar areas.
  • Previous experience in cell culture and human pluripotent stem cells manipulation.
  • Previous experience in molecular biology techniques.
  • Competencies and skills: Excellent communication and teamworking skills, proactivity, commitment, critical and analytical thinking
  • High level of English

Advantageous:

  • Previous experience in CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing and in the generation of brain organoids.
  • Previous experience in Cloning, PCR, RT-PCR, WB, Immunofluorescence and Confocal Image Processing.
  • Previous experience in scientific support to the research activities of international or national research labs.

  •   Full time 1 year labour-contract. Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration
