On 2 March, “La Caixa” Foundation organised a debate on the latest advances in light-activated drugs as part of the “CaixaImpulse Debate”. Nuria Camarero, a researcher in IBEC’s Nanoprobes and Nanoswitches group, together with Amadeu Llebaria, leader of the Medicinal Chemistry group at the IQAC-CSIC Institute, discussed the possible application of photopharmaceuticals in today’s medicine. “The idea is that, once administered and distributed in the body, they are activated when and where we are interested,” explained Nuria Camarero during the debate.
