Núria Montserrat, ICREA professor and Principal Investigator at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia was among the representatives chosen for the appointment this year. Over this three days, Montserrat and other distinguished international researchers that receive funding from the ERC participated in press conferences, talks and discussions about leadership, globalisation and research in regenerative medicine and cancer. In the words of Núria Montserrat: “the cutting-edge science that we are undertaking in Barcelona and all-around Europe, not only contribute to the creation of knowledge, but is also a clear factor of economic, social and cultural growth. However, the ERC funds cannot replace the funds contributed by the member countries.
