Investigadors de l’IBEC generen mini-ronyons vascularitzats a partir de cèl·lules mare humanes

Investigadors de l’IBEC han creat per primer cop cultius tridimensionals -organoides- a partir de cèl·lules mare pluripotents, que s’assemblen al teixit embrionari de ronyó humà durant el segon trimestre de gestació.

Mitjançant l’ús de biomaterials que mimetitzen el micro ambient embrionari els investigadors també han aconseguit que aquests mini ronyons presentin característiques rellevants per al seu ús immediat en el modelatge de patologies renals.
En un estudi publicat ahir en la revista Nature Materials es descriu com investigadors de l’IBEC han generat organoides, o mini òrgans, que s’assemblen al ronyó embrionari humà durant el segon trimestre de gestació,

The Biomaterials for Regenerative Therapies group at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) is looking for a PhD to develop his/her PhD thesis project on 3D bioprinted scaffolds for bone regeneration. Research in the Biomaterials for Regenerative Therapies group is devoted to the development and knowledge transfer to industry of innovative biomaterials and scaffolds for tissue regeneration.

L’IBEC signa un acord per 1.5 milions d’euros amb Scranton Enterprises

L’Institut de Bioenginyeria de Catalunya (IBEC) ha signat un acord per una ronda d’inversió inicial d’un milió i mig d’euros amb Scranton Entreprises B.V. -una associació d’inversió amb seu als Països Baixos-, amb la finalitat de desenvolupar tecnologia que predigui la probabilitat d’implantació d’embrions obtinguts mitjançant la fecundació in vitro.

Aquest acord és el primer que s’estableix en el marc de la nova iniciativa de l’institut, l’Open Innovation Lab, que ofereix a empreses i inversors una plataforma per a portar de manera més àgil la recerca d’avantguarda als pacients i al mercat.

L’IBEC reuneix a dos premis Nobel en el dia Internacional de la Dona i la Nena en la Ciència

L’Institut de Bioenginyeria de Catalunya (IBEC) ha aconseguit reunir en un mateix acte al físic nord-americà Jerome Friedman, Premi Nobel de Física el 1990, i a la cristal·lògrafa israeliana Ada Yonath, Premi Nobel de Química el 2009.

Els dos investigadors, que es troben a la ciutat Comtal amb motiu de la Biennal Ciutat i Ciència organitzada per l’Institut de Cultura de l’Ajuntament de Barcelona, han coincidit en l’esdeveniment en el Dia Internacional de la Dona i la Nena a la Ciència. Nou èxit del Health TECH World Cancer Day

Divendres passat, la Plataforma Espanyola de Nanotecnologia gestionada per l’IBEC, NanoMed Spain, va coorganitzar la sisena edició del Health TECH World Cancer Day, una iniciativa mundial organitzada com a part del Dia Mundial del Càncer.

És el quart any consecutiu que la plataforma ha acollit la conferència, que va tenir lloc a la seu de la Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer de Barcelona i va ser inaugurada per Laureano Molins, presidente de AECC Cataluña i pel Josep Samitier de l’IBEC/NanoMed Spain, qui també va fer una presentació sobre la plataforma. Les últimes innovacions en nanomedicina per al càncer van ser presentades i discutides enfront d’una audiència de més de 50 investigadors, clínics, estudiants i professionals de la indústria.
