The Biosensors for Bioengineering Group is looking for a senior researcher to develop a project in collaboration with a company. The contract will be within the framework of a collaborative project with a company whose objective is to develop new biomaterials for stem cell implantations
In our lab we use bioengineering methods to create 3D environments that support embryonic development outside of the mother uterus. Our systems are accessible to imaging tools which allow us to interrogate the genetics, metabolomics and mechanics of the embryo in a high throughput manner. Using our systems we are capable to (i) improve embryo culture conditions and (ii) diagnose embryos with improved implantation potential.
Mecanotransducció: aplicació de la mecànica nuclear per a comprendre la salut i la malaltia
Un estudi liderat per investigadors de l’IBEC i publicat a la revista Nature Cell Biology demostra que l’aplicació de força mecànica al nucli cel·lular afecta al transport de proteïnes a través de la membrana nuclear. Aquesta acció controla els processos cel·lulars i podria exercir un paper clau en diverses malalties, com el càncer. Això implica un enfocament nou per a comprendre els aspectes de la invasió del càncer i la metàstasi, obrint portes a noves tècniques potencials tant diagnòstiques com terapèutiques.
IBEC s’uneix a EBRAINS: una plataforma internacional per donar suport a la investigació del cervell
IBEC és el membre associat més nou d’EBRAINS, una associació internacional sense ànim de lucre nascuda de Human Brain Project (HBP), amb i per a investigadors. El seu propòsit és crear i coordinar una infraestructura internacional per promoure la investigació del cervell, brindant eines i serveis digitals com a programari, maquinari, consultoria i instal·lacions per ajudar els investigadors a enfrontar els desafiaments en la investigació del cervell i el desenvolupament de tecnologia inspirada en el cervell.
Senyals mecànics i escorça cerebral
Investigadors de l’Institut de Bioenginyeria de Catalunya (IBEC), coordinats per l’investigador principal José Antonio del Río, apareixen als mitjans per un estudi en col·laboració amb la Universitat de Barcelona (UB) que descriu el paper de senyals mecànics en la formació de la escorça cerebral.
