StrengtHE: IBEC positions itself to strengthen its participation in Horizon Europe

IBEC has obtained financial support through the State Research Agency’s call for proposals for the Preparation and Management of European Projects. The aim is to enable IBEC’s project office to strengthen its participation and success in the European research and innovation programme Horizon Europe.

IBEC has obtained financial support through the call for Preparation and Management of European Projects (GPE2022) granted by the State Research Agency (AEI). The project called StrengtHE, which will last 2 years and has funding of almost €300,000, has as its main objective to enhance the capacity of the IBEC project office, strengthening its participation and success in Horizon Europe, the main research and innovation program of the European Union. This boost will contribute significantly to the institution’s international positioning.

“Our ultimate goal is to contribute to strengthening IBEC’s position as a leader in bioengineering for health at European level.”

Rosa Miralles

IBEC’s project office has been developed in parallel with the implementation of the various European Framework Programmes. Within the first years of Horizon Europe implementation, where new challenges are presented to be faced, the office must evolve and adapt to the new requirements.

“The StrengtHE project will allow us to go one step further in the preparation and management of European projects, with the incorporation of new key figures in our office and the implementation of software tools to reinforce the search for calls and project management; both aspects will be key to facing the novelties of Horizon Europe and the growing complexity due to the coexistence of both programmes (H2020 and Horizon Europe).” Explains Rosa Miralles Llumà, head of IBEC’s Project Office.

The main lines of action of the StrengtHE project are designed to provide IBEC researchers with more personalized, proactive, and professionalized support, strengthening collaboration with other management units to align their competencies with new European policies “Our ultimate goal is to contribute to strengthening IBEC’s position as a leader in bioengineering for health at European level.” Miralles stands out.

Through various courses and stays, the project seeks to train project office staff not only in Horizon Europe, but also in other European and international programmes where IBEC seeks to expand its expertise. “In this way, we seek to increase IBEC’s economic return, as well as promote its visibility and internationalization in the area of bioengineering,” says Isabel Sáez Martínez, IBEC’s Project Manager Coordinator.
