Es tracta d’una molècula que està directament relacionada amb l’expressió de la proteïna priònica cel·lular, present a la superfície de les cèl·lules neurals. L’estudi, liderat per l’IBEC, obre la porta a la detecció primerenca de la malaltia d’Alzheimer en etapes asimptomàtiques en mostres de sang, afavorint el seu diagnòstic i tractament.
