Introduction to the vacant position:
The Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), a cutting-edge research center based in Barcelona, is looking for a Funding Officer.
We have an exciting full-time development opportunity for a new Funding Officer to join our Projects Office in Barcelona.
Reporting to the Funding Coordinator, his/her tasks will be focused on project administrative management, monitoring and economic reporting of projects and advising on non-scientific matters for applications ensuring compliance and funder requirements on reporting of the research projects.
This full-time role offers an excellent opportunity for a professional interested in managing the post-award phase of research projects.
In this role, you will work closely with researchers, project managers, and research management staff to gather and analyse project information, supporting the execution of funded projects by managing financial and administrative tasks effectively.
You will navigate the complexities of grants and fellowships, focusing on the post-award stages. Your ability to handle large datasets and meet tight deadlines will be essential for the success of our projects.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
As Funding Officer, you will assume a central position in providing post-award support and project administrative management within the Projects Office.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Funding identification: disseminate funding opportunities from national and international organizations.
- Project support: assist researchers and project managers in research project applications and implementation, providing administrative support and reviewing documentation to ensure compliance.
- Financial reporting: handle economic justification of fellowships (FPI, FPU, FI, Juan de la Cierva, Ramon y Cajal, etc.) and R&D projects (EU –H2020, Horizon Europe–, national –MCIN/AEI, ISCIII–, regional –AGAUR, ACCIÓ– and private foundations –AECC, FBBVA, etc.).
- Project database & financial management: keep project information updated and manage financial aspects of projects using SAP.
- Administrative management: registration and archive of internal and official documents.
Requirements for candidates:
Essential:
- Experience: minimum 1-2 years in a similar post-award position.
- Education: Degree in Legal, Financial or Administrative studies.
- Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Full command of Spanish and Catalan.
- Intermediate level of English.
- Competences: excellent communication, teamwork, proactivity, attention to detail, planning and organizational skills.
Advantageous:
- Experience with SAP.
- Knowledge of public and private research funding systems (European and Spanish).
- Knowledge of public research Catalan system.
