The Biosensors for bioengineering group at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) lead by Dr. Javier Ramon is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher develop to work in the project Diabetes Approach by Multi-Organ-on-a-Chip (DAMOC).

The contract will be within the framework of the “ERC Starting Grant” from the European Research Council (ERC) whose objective Diabetes Approach by Multi-Organ-on-a-Chip.

The second edition of IBEC’s Faster Future programme will be dedicated to the fight against Parkinson

The programme IBEC Faster Future, an initiative that aims to help accelerate research projects that are close to tackling major challenges in health, will enable the development of a new antibody that will be the base of a therapeutic product for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.

The Faster Future program campaign “Let’s tackle Parkinson”, which is launched today and will remain open to donations until the 30th of April, has the aim to raise 50,000 € needed to accelerate this research, seeking to obtain favourable results within a year and a half.
The project is led by Dr. Silvia Muro, Group Leader for Targeted therapeutics and nanodevices group from IBEC, with the collaboration of scientists, hospitals and patient associations, and calls to every person that wants to get involved by making donations during the fundraising campaign.

L’IBEC dedica la segona edició del programa Faster Future a la lluita contra el Parkinson

El programa IBEC Faster Future, que persegueix recaptar fons per a portar a la pràctica clínica determinats projectes que ja es troben en una etapa avançada de recerca, farà possible el desenvolupament d’un nou anticòs que serà la base d’un producte terapèutic per al tractament del Parkinson.

La campanya del programa Faster Future “Pel Parkinson”, que es llança avui i que romandrà oberta fins al 30 d’abril, té per objectiu recaptar els 50.000€ necessaris per a accelerar aquesta recerca, esperant obtenir resultats favorables en un termini d’any i mig.

The Strategic Initiatives unit provides strategic advice and support to the Director in the deployment of the Strategic Plan of IBEC. Among others, the unit fosters and coordinates (a) institutional and strategic projects and alliances such as Severo Ochoa, BIST, EIT Health and institutional networks as the NanoMed Spain, (b) international alliances and partnerships, and (c) the scientific activities of the institute.

The contract will be within the framework of Mechanobiology, whose objective is to unveil the interplay between mechanics of biological function.

Un pas endavant en l’ús de nanopartícules per combatre la resistència bacteriana

El grup d’Infeccions Bacterianes: Teràpies Antimicrobianes, liderat per Eduard Torrents, ha dissenyat un nou mètode que permet, per primera vegada, comprovar l’eficàcia dels fàrmacs antimicrobians que inclouen nanopartícules en la seva estructura. Aquesta nova tècnica, s’ha publicat recentment en la revista Journal of Nanobiotechnology.

La resistència bacteriana és una de les majors amenaces a què s’enfronta la salut global en l’actualitat. Segons dades de l’OMS, cada vegada hi ha més infeccions (pneumònia, tuberculosi, gonorrea) el tractament de les quals s’ha complicat a causa de la pèrdua d’eficàcia de molts antibiòtics. L’origen d’aquest problema es troba en l’ús indegut i abusiu dels antibiòtics, que provoca que els bacteris es tornin resistents a ells.
