At IBEC we combine expertise in various data sources with advanced techniques and data analysis to unlock valuable insights for disease diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment.


  1. Wearable sensors and mobile phones: Our team extracts and analyses signals from these devices to detect and monitor conditions like
    • Obstructive Breathing Disorders: Sleep apnoea (OSA), Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), COVID-19
    • Cardiac Disorders: Brugada syndrome, Ischemia
    • Neuromechanical Diseases: Neurorehabilitation, Spinal cord injury
    • Gastrointestinal Diseases
  2. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and Hyperpolarized NMR (HP-NMR): We process data from these sophisticated techniques for both imaging and spectroscopy. We can perform in vitro cell metabolic studies or in vivo mouse imaging.
  3. Machine Learning and Advanced Algorithms: Our researchers are skilled in using these tools to unlock insights from various data sources. As examples:
    • Develop algorithmic solutions for the automatic processing of Gas Sensor Array, Gas Chromatography –ion mobility spectrometry (IMS), nuclear magnetic resonance and Mass Spectrometry (GC/LC-MS, MSI) data.
    • Development of data procession methods (including machine learning tools) to resolve molecular heterogeneity in mass spectrometry images, vaidated on colorrectal cancer tissues.
  4. Expertise in Specific Disease Areas:
    • Predicting Embryo Implantation: We analyse transcriptomic and metabolic profiles to predict the success of embryo implantation in humans.
