Scientific business developer at the Biomimetic systems for cell engineering Research Group

Introduction to the vacant position:

The Biomimetic systems for cell engineering Group is looking for a scientific business developer (technical support to research) to join the READY-GUT project funded by AGAUR Innovadors. The ideal candidate will have a hybrid technical-business background.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

In READY-GUT we develop ready-to-use 3D hydrogel scaffolds for cell culture of intestinal models. The candidate will participate in the product validation and the route-to-market strategy. Specifically, the main tasks will be

  • Conduct market analysis to identify trends, competitors, and potential areas for business development.
  • Definition of the business plan, economic viability and marketing strategy.
  • Develop a commercialization roadmap, including pricing strategies, distribution channels and identification of partners and key resources.
  • Create a customer portfolio, identify potential customers and early adopters, and coordinate experimental end-user validation and testing.
  • Research and compile all necessary requirements for GLP certification.
  • Attend the complementary training in entrepreneurship offered the AGAUR Innovadors programme.
  • Participate in industry conferences, networking events and business meetings.

Requirements for candidates:

  • Advance degree (MSc or PhD) in biotechnology, bioengineering, biomedical sciences, tissue engineering, or a related field with a postgraduate degree in entrepreneurship and innovation. Alternatively, a degree in economics, business administration or related field with a strong understanding of biotech R&D projects, in particular of 3D cell culture, ADME testing, and gut disease modeling.
  • Previous experience in technology transfer, business development and product validation.
  • Previous experience in industry or start-up companies in the life sciences sector will be highly valued.
  • Knowledge of good laboratory practices (GLP) and standard protocols for in vitro preclinical testing.
  • Ability to identify and engage with potential customers, early adopters, and strategic partners, particularly in pharma, biotech, and CROs.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Highly self-motivated and proactive, with excellent communication skills for pitching the technology to potential clients and investors.

  • Full-time 18 months contract
