El Instituto de Bioingeniería de Catalunya (IBEC) lanza la campaña Faster Future “A por la COVID19”, con el objetivo de recaudar los 100.000€ necesarios para acelerar tres proyectos de investigación en colaboración con hospitales y asociaciones de pacientes.
Descubierto un mecanismo de entrada de fármacos al cerebro
Un estudio internacional dirigido por el investigador del IBEC Giuseppe Battaglia describe un mecanismo y las condiciones necesarias que permiten que moléculas atraviesen la barrera hematoencefálica, la capa protectora del cerebro. El estudio describe el papel de la proteína LRP1 en la estabilización de pasajes tubulares, abriendo una posible vía de administración más segura y eficiente de fármacos al cerebro.
