Introduction to the vacant position:
The Bioengineering in Reproductive Health Group is looking for a Researcher in Training to participate in the study of the role mechanotransduction during embryo implantation. The researcher will combine biophysical techniques, traction microscopy, advanced optical microscopy and theoretical modelling to analyze the forces that mammalian embryos exert while implanting. The contract will be within the framework of the IMPLATFORM project whose objective is the creation of a biomimetic implantation platform to promote embryonic development ex vivo and study implantation progression.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Image acquisition (advanced microscopy techniques) and image processing
- Particle image velocimetry (PIV) and traction force microscopy
- Development of an analysis pipeline (Python) and data analysis
Requirements for candidates:
Essential:
- Degree/ Master in Mathematics and/or Physics
- Multidisciplinary qualifications (Physics/Math’s, Physics/Engineering, Computer Science) and/or knowledge on Biophysics (specifically on mechanobiology will be a plus).
- Competencies and skills: Teamwork, Commitment, Proactivity, Integrity, Critical and Analytical thinking.
- High level of English
Advantageous:
- Experience in mechanobiology and theoretical modelling of force traction.
- Advanced microscopy techniques
