Postdoctoral position at the Targeted Therapeutics & Nanodevices Research Group

Application Deadline: 18/06/2021
Ref: PD-SM
The Targeted Therapeutics and Nanodevices Research group at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) is looking for a Postdoctoral candidate to collaborate in a research project focused on the identification, characterization, and application of “universal” monoclonal antibodies capable of recognizing specific cell-surface receptors in a variety of species, as primary tools to then develop targeted drug delivery applications (nanoparticles and antibody-drug conjugates) for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
The contract will be within the framework of the project “CROSSTARGET: Development of new translational cross-species tools for therapeutic targeting with organ and subcellular precision”, funded by the Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades under its RETOS program.
PhD Position in the Synthetic Morphogenesis group (IBEC, TU/e)

Application Deadline: 21/05/2021

The Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) in collaboration with the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e, Eindhoven – Netherlands) are seeing an ambitious PhD Candidate to investigate the morphogenesis of living tissues from the computational perspective. The successful candidate will carry out computational research with the Synthetic Morphogenesis group under the supervision of Dr Vito Conte across both institutions at the interface between Biology, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Sciences. This multidisciplinary doctoral research will be carried out in collaboration with Dr Jose Muñoz at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC, Barcelona – Spain) and will be part of greater efforts aiming at establishing a new Platform for the Live-Quantification of Cell and Tissue Mechanics across the IBEC and the TU/e.

IBEC researchers contribute to discover the cause of epilepsy and neurodegeneration in Lafora disease
The accumulation of abnormal glycogen in glial cells of the nervous system causes inflammation and degeneration of the brain. The study, led by IRB Barcelona and with contribution of Arnau Hervera and Jose Antonio del Río from IBEC, has been recently published in the journal Brain.
