The Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) in collaboration with the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e, Eindhoven – Netherlands) are seeing an ambitious PhD Candidate to investigate the morphogenesis of living tissues from the computational perspective. The successful candidate will carry out computational research with the Synthetic Morphogenesis group under the supervision of Dr Vito Conte across both institutions at the interface between Biology, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Sciences. This multidisciplinary doctoral research will be carried out in collaboration with Dr Jose Muñoz at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC, Barcelona – Spain) and will be part of greater efforts aiming at establishing a new Platform for the Live-Quantification of Cell and Tissue Mechanics across the IBEC and the TU/e.
El «Edison de la medicina» visita IBEC
El Instituto de Bioingeniería de Catalunya (IBEC) invita a Robert Langer, y a otros ponentes de renombre internacional, a su simposio anual para hablar sobre cómo la bioingeniería puede marcar el futuro de la medicina de precisión. Langer, Profesor del Instituto Tecnológico de Massachusetts (MIT), y director de su laboratorio en ingeniería biomédica, es considerado el padre de la liberación inteligente de fármacos, el ingeniero más citado del mundo pero, sobre todo, un pionero global, lo que le ha valido el apodo de “El Edison de la Ciencia”.
Fuerzas eléctricas para caracterizar futuros dispositivos electrónicos biocompatibles
Una colaboración conjunta entre el Instituto de Bioingeniería de Cataluña (IBEC), el Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Barcelona(ICMAC) y la Universidad de Manchester han logrado crear un mapa de las propiedades eléctricas de las interfaces eléctricas de biosensores orgánicos / electrolitos a nanoescala midiendo las fuerzas eléctricas locales.

The nanoprobes group at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) is looking for a Predoctoral Researcher to develop synthetic photochromic compounds for the manipulation of ion channels and receptors. The contract will be within the framework of ongoing projects of the laboratory, whose objectives include both fundamental investigation of neuronal circuits and novel therapeutic developments for sensory restoration, and against excitatory/inhibitory disbalances in the central nervous system such as epilepsy.

Las células pueden detectar la cantidad de espacio disponible y tomar decisiones a medida usando su núcleo
Dos estudios publicados hoy en la revista Science muestran que diferentes tipos celulares pueden utilizar su núcleo —el orgánulo más rígido y voluminoso de la célula— para medir el nivel de confinamiento al que están sometidas. Estos resultados son de especial interés para el estudio de la migración celular, tanto en tejido sano como canceroso. Marc Molina, actual investigador del IBEC, contribuye a uno de los artículos en Science por su trabajo realizado durante su posición anterior en el King´s College de Londres.
