IBEC and GIPS lead a strategic conference connecting science and clinical practice to advance translational health research

Today marked the fourth annual conference of the Interdisciplinary Group of Health Professionals (GIPS), which featured the collaboration of the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) this year. The event welcomed over 150 attendees from clinical, academic, institutional, and technological backgrounds, and aimed to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and promote innovation in health.

IBEC co-organises Europe’s largest nanomedicine event to mark the 20th anniversary of NANOMED Spain and ETPN

The NanoMed Europe 2025 conference, Europe’s leading event in the field of nanomedicine and advanced health technologies, took place from 27 to 30 May. This edition was hosted in Barcelona, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the Spanish Nanomedicine Platform (NANOMED Spain), which is coordinated by the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC). Since its establishment in 2005, NANOMED Spain has collaborated closely with the European Technology Platform for Nanomedicine (ETPN) to encourage nanomedicine innovation in Spain and across Europe.

IBEC stands out at BIST Forum with 4 BIST Ignite projects and a BIST Ignite Award

Today, the BIST Forum, an event that brings together the BIST scientific community, focused this year on the joint initiative of the seven CERCA centres to promote precision medicine in healthy ageing. During the event, the new BIST Ignite projects to promote multidisciplinary research were announced, with IBEC involved in four of the five selected projects. In addition, one of the projects in which IBEC is involved won a BIST Ignite Award.

Bioengineering for Emergent and Advanced Therapies at the 17th IBEC Symposium

IBEC’s 17th Annual Symposium focused on ‘Bioengineering for Emergent and Advanced Therapies’, one of IBEC’s key application areas. Around 300 people attended the event, including local and international researchers. It was a multidisciplinary environment in which experts from other centres and the IBEC community itself had the opportunity to present their projects and share knowledge.

Successful conclusion of the third EMBL-IBEC conference

The third edition of the EMBL-IBEC conference organised by the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) focused on emerging and advanced therapies, bringing together around 150 international experts in the field of bioengineering last week at the PRBB in Barcelona.

IBEC and AEFAT join forces against ataxia telangiectasia

Today, the event “Advances in Ataxia Telangiectasia” took place, organized by the Institute of Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) in collaboration with AEFAT, the Spanish ataxia-telangiectasia family association. The gathering brought together patients’ families, researchers, and clinicians to explore the latest advancements in the clinical management of ataxia telangiectasia.
