IBEC researchers Samuel Sanchez, Miguel Bosch and María Rodríguez are set to take part in a global science outreach event taking place simultaneously in 21 countries.
The Pint of Science festival on 14th-16th May aims to deliver interesting, fun and relevant talks on the latest scientific research by the people who carry it out – in the pub!
On 15th May María, who is a PhD student linked to IBEC’s Biomedical signal processing and interpretation group, will give a talk, “El mundo al revés: Diseño de herramientas matemáticas para sabes cómo funciona la médula espinal” at La Iguana bar on Carrer de Rosés. The following night, ICREA research professor Samuel and Nanoprobes and Nanoswitches senior researcher Miguel will giving talks on “Engineering Living Hybrid Robots” and “Lighting up the brain with photo-drugs” at the Grizzly 72 Sports Bar on Gran Via.
Other scientists taking part in Barcelona bars include researchers from ICTA, IFAE, IRB Barcelona, CRG and several other centres, covering topics ranging from cosmology and climate change to big data and the science behind fear.
Pint of Science, which was established by a community of postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers at Imperial College in 2012, takes place annually over three days simultaneously in pubs in 21 countries.
