Introduction to the vacant position:
The Nanoscale Bioelectric Characterization Group is looking for a Senior Laboratory Technician to manage the research group laboratory, develop and maintain laboratory research equipment and develop software tools for research.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Laboratory management: to ensure that all lab operations run smoothly by scheduling staff, ordering supplies, maintaining health and safety protocols, and training lab assistants and researchers.
- To carry out essential research functions in the laboratory that include but are not limited to: innovation and development of new Electrical Scanning Probe Microscopy techniques, implementation and support in the development of electronic instrumentation solutions, implementation and support in other experimental set up design and implementation (including PCB board design, machining, 3D printing, etc.), development of user’s software interfaces and of theoretical physical modelling by finite element methods.
- To be responsible of the maintenance of the laboratory infrastructure, writing of user’s guides, reports, etc.
- To be partially responsible for the technology transfer actions of the research group
- To have the initiative of proposing new ideas, projects and solutions.
Requirements for candidates:
Essential:
- Bachelor Degree and Master in Physics or Engineering or equivalent.
- +6 years of experience as Laboratory Technician in similar tasks in research centers or private companies or a PhD.
- Experience in electronic instrumentation set-up and development.
- Competencies and skills: Communication, Teamwork and collaboration, Commitment, Proactivity, Integrity, Critical and Analytical thinking.
- Spanish or Catalan and English languages.
- High motivation and ability to be involved in an international multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent team working, initiative and problem – solving capabilities.
Advantageous:
- Experience in electronic control and robotics for automatization
- Experience in Artificial Intelligence
- Experience in Scanning Probe Microscopy.
- Experience in electronic circuit design and in instrumentation for electronic device characterization.
- Experience in finite element numerical simulations (preferable with COMSOL Multiphysics and MATLAB).

- Salary: Starting from 29.863 € (according to qualifications and experience)
