An article and interview with Josep Samitier in El Mundo presents EIT Health and the Spanish node.

IBEC research was highlighted in the morning news on Telecinco today when new group leader Samuel Sánchez’s nanorobots were presented as a potential future substitute for chemotherapy.

IBEC’s junior group leader Nuria Montserrat appeared on RTVE’s channel 1 programme Saber Vivir earlier this month, when they had an episode devoted to kidney disease and research.

In a brief interview filmed at IBEC, Nuria explained the two pillars of her current research: to create viable kidney cells in the lab that can be implanted in vivo, and to study the signals that are necessary to encourage the kidney to regenerate itself.

The story discusses her ERC grant, the work she has been doing generating “mini-kidneys” from human pluripotent stem cells, and how she will continue this important line of research at IBEC.

IBEC group leader and director of CMRB Ángel Raya is featured as one of four researchers making notable advances in regenerative medicine in a story in Diario Medico today

The article includes interviews with researchers from New York, Munich and Rome, who alongside Ángel attended a conference organised by the Areces Foundation and the Nature Group last week in Madrid.
