Signed by IBEC director Josep A. Planell and VHIR’s Joan Comella, the agreement formalises the institutes’ joint participation in scientific projects and their shared development of innovative technologies for health, as well as their collaboration in technology transfer activities and knowledge exchange. It also consolidates the exchange of researchers between the institutes, the scientific and technical organization of joint conferences, seminars and events, and establishes conditions for the sharing of relevant facilities available at both institutes.
According to Josep A. Planell, the agreement “consolidates IBEC’s collaboration with the research institute of one of the country’s major hospitals. This is a crucial step in our strategy to ensure that the results of our research reach the patient.” For Joan Comella, the agreement “is an opportunity to collaborate with a leading institute in bioengineering and nanomedicine which will strengthen both institutions.”
After the signing of the agreement, which was held in the University Hospital Vall d’Hebron, the first official VHIR-IBEC meeting took place, in which research group heads Manuel Galiñanes and Miquel Vila (VHIR) and Angel Raya and José Antonio del Río (IBEC) presented some of their research projects.
