Today, Josep Samitier, Director of the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia, and Clara Prats, President of the Interdisciplinary Group of Health Professionals (GIPS), signed a collaboration agreement between the two centres to promote translational research in technology and health. As a result, the two institutions will jointly organise the 4th Annual GIPS Conference, which will take place on 17 June.

The collaboration between the Interdisciplinary Group of Health Professionals (GIPS) and the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) was formalised today. Both entities are committed to fostering relationships between interdisciplinary teams working in the health sector, in order to promote the implementation and integration of new methods and technologies that will lead to an improvement in the healthcare environment. The agreement was signed by Clara Prats, President of the GIPS Association, and Josep Samitier, Director of IBEC.
In line with recent GIPS collaborations, this one will aim to promote and facilitate innovation projects in technology and health that improve the quality of life of citizens; to make the health sector, the technology sector and society in general aware of the needs and challenges of integrating technology in the health sector and its impact on professionals, the health system and people’s health; and to promote training in technology and health to facilitate the necessary collaboration between clinical and technical profiles.
The agreement reaffirms the will of the two organisations to create synergies, exchanges of knowledge and experience, and spaces for reflection and dialogue between professionals from different fields of knowledge that can lead to improvements in health.
IBEC is the co-organiser of this year’s Annual Conference, which will take place on 17 June and is entitled ‘Translational Research in Technology and Health’. The event, which will be held at the Antoni Caparrós Auditorium in the Barcelona Science Park, will be the fourth edition and will conclude a successful 2024-25 academic year. Registration for the event is now open, and the conference programme is available.
This agreement is a further sign of the growth of GIPS and its willingness to weave synergies between entities and organisations within the ecosystem of technology and innovation in the field of health.
