‘Nanotechnology and Global Bioethics’ was put together by the opinion group of the University of Barcelona’s Bioethics and Law Observatory (OBD), of which IBEC’s associate director Josep Samitier and Head of Corporate Projects Arantxa Sanz are members. The document identifies problems arising from the application of nanotechnology to biomedicine, the environment and biosafety, and addresses the social, legal and ethical implications, with the aim of guiding recommendations and encouraging transparent debate.
The paper will be included in the book Bioethics and Nanotechnology, which is also coordinated by the OBD and published as part of the Ministry of Science and Innovation’s research project “Nanobiolaw: ethical, social and legal implications of nanotechnologies”.
The presentation will take place at 11:00 in the Fèlix Serratosa room of the Cluster. The document, which is in English, Catalan and Spanish, will be available to download from http://www.bioeticayderecho.ub.es/documentos from 12:00 on Tuesday 5 October.
