The event opened yesterday with a ceremony involving IBEC director Josep Samitier, CERCA director Lluís Rovira, Head of Research at the Ministry of Health Gabriel Capellà, UPC Vicerector Fernando Orejas, and Antonio Correia, president of co-organisers the Phantoms Foundation. It promises its participants four days of talks, poster sessions, networking opportunities and possibilities to identify new multidisciplinary cooperations and projects.
IBEC researchers Anna Lagunas, Pau Gorostiza, Mateu Pla, Luis Rigat, Roberto Paoli and Daniel Navajas are among the contributors, and the institute was present with an information stand (left). New ICREA researcher Samuel Sanchez (right), who will join IBEC in January and who was recently named “Innovador del Año” by the Spanish edition of MIT Technology Review, gave a fascinating overview of his research into self-propelling micro- and nanomotors for targeted drug delivery and other applications.
