Josep called the development ‘a milestone, a dramatic breakthrough’ and elaborated that such devices might also be useful as biological sensors, for example to monitor glucose and insulin levels in diabetics. He stressed, however, that it will be some years before such wireless-controlled implants will be able to be used on a large scale.
