Researchers succeed in breaking the shield of bacteria that makes them resistant to antibiotics

The group led by Eduard Torrents has succeeded in developing a triple-action antibiotic that breaks a protective structure produced by the bacteria themselves, the bacterial biofilm. Using this new antibiotic, more than 50% of pathogens can be eliminated in a single step. This discovery may become very useful for permanent lung infections.
