The dates have been chosen to tie in with the 2011 European Technology Platform on Nanomedicine (ETPN) Annual Meeting, which IBEC also co-organizes, which will take place in Barcelona on 20-21 October.
The annual IBEC symposium, which brings together high-profile international experts for a programme of interdisciplinary talks and discussions, as well as providing an excellent networking opportunity for researchers in the fields of nanomedicine and bioengineering, attracted a record 240 participants to its third edition in 2010. This year’s speakers will include IBEC’s José Antonio del Río and Pau Gorostiza, Antoine Ferreira ( Institut PRISME, France), Herman Gaub (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, Germany), Mike Hughes (University of Surrey) and Matthias Lutolf (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL)).
The Biopol’H-IBEC workshop, held on the following day at the same venue, will welcome experts including Laura Ballerini (University of Trieste, Italy), Scott Parazynski (The Methodist Hospital Research Institute, USA) and Yuri Volkov (Trinity College Dublin). They’ll lead the discussions on the potential of nanotechnologies for improved disgnosis and treatments for conditions associated with ageing.
Researchers are welcome to present posters during the symposium, and a committee will select some of these to be introduced as three-minute flash presentations. The abstract submission date is 5 September 2011, and the registration deadline is 30 September.
