IBEC director Josep Planell was one of the attendees of the meeting at the Ministry of Science and Innovation, which gathered together the heads of the 22 institutes from across Spain that made it to the second stage. After the next round, up to 10 of the finalists will be selected as the best research centres in the country and awarded the distinction of ‘Centro/Unidad de Excelencia Severo Ochoa’ and €1m funding for four years.
