This appointment recognises her scientific career and commitment to research management.

Dr Sanchis holds a Physics degree from the University of Valencia and a PhD in Physics with European Distinction from the University of Barcelona (UB). Dr Sanchis has also completed postgraduate courses in the Management and Administration of Non-Profit Organisations and the Social Economy at Ramon Llull University (URL), as well as in International Development Agents at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC).
She has always worked in management, gaining experience as a technician in the Academic Management department at the University of Barcelona (UB) and as a project manager for research projects at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), specialising in European and international projects.
In 2008, she joined the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), where she played a key role in establishing the research project management department during the centre’s initial development phase. She then went on to lead the deployment of IBEC’s Strategy department. In this role, which she has held since 2016, she has initiated numerous strategic projects, collaborations and institutional partnerships.
She has also been the executive coordinator of the Spanish Nanomedicine Platform since 2016. Recognised by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, this technology platform connects companies, start-ups, hospitals, universities and research centres throughout Spain to promote public-private collaboration and innovation in nanomedicine.
Teresa Sanchis is taking over from Joan Gómez Pallarès as Director General of Research at the centre. IBEC would like to congratulate Dr Sanchis on her appointment and express our support for her in this new stage of her career. We are confident that her experience, strategic vision, and leadership skills will be instrumental in strengthening Catalonia’s research system and reinforcing its position as a leading global hub for science and technology.
