The Complementary Plan in Biotechnology applied to Health is co-financed by the Ministry of Science and Innovation with funds from the European Union NextGenerationEU (PRTR-C17.I1).

It is co-governed and co-financed by the Administrations of the Autonomous Communities of the Basque Country, Catalonia, Galicia, Castile-La Mancha, Extremadura, Andalucia and Aragón and seeks to develop tools for diagnosis, prognosis and advanced therapies in personalized medicine, with the aim of addressing health challenges such as cancer, diseases associated with aging, infectious diseases and minority diseases.

With a budget of 37 million Euros, and coordinated by the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), this Complementary Plan represents the largest interregional collaboration in personalized medicine. In addition, this biotechnology health research consortium is one of the largest in the history of Spain, and one of the best funded.
