Josep takes over from Dra. Imma Tubella i Casadevall in the principal position at the UoC, an internationally recognised online university founded in 1995, which now has a community of over 60,000 students.
“After seven fantastic years at IBEC I’m delighted that the institute has achieved the status that it enjoys today as one of the strongest research centres in Catalunya, recognised both nationally and internationally for its excellence in the fields of bioengineering and nanomedicine,” Josep said on his last day at work at IBEC. “A change in management for an institute like IBEC always acts like a breath of fresh air, opening up opportunities to implement new ideas or to aim towards new directions.”
The search is on to find a new director for IBEC in time for May this year. In the interim, associate director Josep Samitier will be taking on the responsibilities of full director.
