Three members of the ICMS have participated at the second IBEC-ICMS symposium, celebrated last 16th July at the Barcelona Science Park. The event aimed to identify synergies and potential for collaboration between IBEC groups and the researchers of the Institute for Complex Molecular Systems (ICMS), a research institute of the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e).
Josep Samitier, director of IBEC, and Jan van Hest director of ICMS opened the symposium by welcoming more than 80 participants from both institutions. Two IBEC group leaders, Vito Conte and Lorenzo Albertazzi, already have dual appointments with ICMS.
During the meeting, researchers from IBEC and ICMS presented their research. On the IBEC side, several group leaders participated at the symposium, among them, Silvia Muro, Pau Gorostiza, Samuel Sánchez, Javier Ramón, Elena Martínez, Pere Roca-Cusachs, Vito Conte, Xavier Trepat, Núria Montserrat and Josep Samitier. On the ICMS side, it’s director, Jan van Hest, and the researchers Jaap den Toonder and Carlijn Bouten.
Thanks to the similarities and complementary aspects of both IBEC and ICMS – their multidisciplinarity, active missions to connect with industry and clinicians, and strong research in nano, materials, molecular devices, supramolecular systems and regenerative medicine –form the basis of an institutional-level alliance to share people, resources and knowledge. This partnership between both centers, is a part of theStrategic Plan 2018-2020, that aims to strenghten collaboration and position IBEC as a partnership at an international level.
At the event, PhD’s from both research centers participated at the symposium giving short talks at the Flash presentation part and also more than 30 posters were presented.
