MINECO’s FECYT (Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología) established the UCC + i system to promote the popularization of science in universities, research centres and other public institutions in Spain. There are only seven other centres in the Barcelona area which have this accreditation – UB, UAB, PCB, CRESA, CRG, ACCC and the Fundacio Universitaria Balmes – with two more in Tarrogona (Rovira i Virgili university) and Girona (University of Girona), totalling ten in Catalonia.
