Josep Samitier, director of IBEC and president of the Catalan Association of Research Entities (ACER) appears in different media because of the latest draft of the “Science Law” approved by the Catalan Government, which will strengthen research and try to retain talent.
The main objectives of this preliminary project are to promote research and innovation; guarantee the working conditions of professionals in this sector; increase funding for R&D&I and bring it into line with the European average; attract and retain talent; and, ultimately, make science a “structural element of the country.”
Catalonia deserves to have a law that allows it to structure the sector well and promote it for the future, especially after years of difficulties and cuts in the field of science and research.
