The media have published the new discovery made by scientists from the Center for Genomic Regulation (CRG) and financed mainly by a CaixaResearch Health Research Project of the Fundació “la Caixa” awarded to Pia Cosma (CRG), Nuria Montserrat (IBEC) and Justin Christopher D’Antin (Barraquer).

The research shows that fusing human retinal cells with adult stem cells unlocks the regenerative potential of the human retina, a trait thought to be unique to cold-blooded vertebrates and opens avenues for treating retinal damage and visual impairment.
