Institute’s nano-bio-info-cogno expertise to determine medical and pharma products of the future
IBEC welcomed members of the Generalitat’s Department of Education and about 150 teachers through its doors yesterday evening, when the Department held its event ‘Presentació del Programa de Competències Científiques’ in a research institute for the first time.IBEC is one of the 13 research centres to be chosen to take part in Fundació Catalunya–La Pedrera’s 2014 edition of Professors i Ciència, an excellence programme for the specialized training for secondary school science teachers.
At Friday 28th March’s official ceremony for the 2013 round of RecerCaixa funding, IBEC junior group leader Elisabeth Engel will represent all the winners and centres as the investigator chosen to speak at the event.
On Friday the ceremony took place of the first ever Asociación Catalana de Entidades de Investigación (ACER) Award, which was given to three of the key people who made possible the existence of the European Research Council (ERC). IBEC’s own ERC-supported scientists attended the ceremony, as did IBEC director Josep Samitier, who is on the Board of Directors of ACER.
IBEC’s director Josep Samitier and Robotics group leader Alícia Casals are on the scientific committee of one of the main events of the Generalitat’s Tercentenary celebrations, which will attract hundreds of people from all over the world.
As coordinator of the Spanish Nanomedicine Platform (NanoMed Spain), IBEC is co-organising this week’s 7th Annual Conference of Biomedical Research Technology Platforms in Barcelona.
