IBEC and BST strengthen ties with Translational Collaboration Day

IBEC and the Blood and Tissue Bank of Catalonia (BST) held a day to explore new collaborations in bioengineering and translational medicine. The meeting, held yesterday at IBEC, highlighted innovative projects, presented a joint PhD programme and strengthened the link between biomedical research and clinical applications.

Yesterday, 31 October, the Institute of Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) hosted ‘Building new translational collaborations between BTS and IBEC’, an event aimed at exploring new opportunities for collaboration with the Blood and Tissue Bank of Catalonia (BST) in the field of bioengineering and translational medicine.

The day began with an institutional welcome from IBEC Director Josep Samitier and BST Scientific Director Joaquim Delgadillo. Both highlighted the importance of strengthening the link between biomedical research and clinical applications in order to develop innovative health solutions.

During the meeting, an ongoing collaboration between the two institutions was presented, as well as innovative projects led by researchers from different groups at IBEC and BST. These initiatives covered areas such as nanobioengineering, nano-bio-smart devices, tissue engineering, specialised haemotherapy and stem cell-based therapies.

One of the key moments of the event was the launch of IBEC and BST’s new joint PhD programme, designed to foster collaborative projects and train the next generation of researchers in a multidisciplinary environment.

The event concluded with a networking cocktail, where participants were able to exchange ideas and explore possible synergies for future joint projects, reinforcing the commitment of both institutions to applied research and innovation in health.
