Success at the conclusion of the 6th edition of the course “Mad for Bioengineering”
For the sixth consecutive year, IBEC has successfully hosted its ‘Mad for Bioengineering’ course with the support of the Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation. Geared towards 1st-year high school students interested in STEM careers, the program provides a unique immersion in the field of bioengineering, addressing health issues from a multidisciplinary perspective. The closing ceremony, attended by students and their families, featured presentations of final projects and the awarding of diplomas.
IBEC renews the Educational Quality Seal
The Pedagogical Innovation Council of Barcelona has renewed the IBEC Educational Quality Seal, which was first awarded in 2016. This recognition acknowledges the institute’s commitment to promoting continuous improvement by ensuring the pedagogical quality of its scientific education proposals.

Back to school, back to the lab!
The holidays are over and it’s time to go back to work, also for our youngest and curious minds of the students that visit us every year. Despite the situation we are experiencing due to the coronavirus outbreak, at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) we are making an effort to resume some of our outreach activities in person.
In this sense, the IBEC laboratories have reopened the doors for the students participating in the “Bojos per la Bioenginyeria” and the “Batx2Lab” programs, adapting to this “new normality”.
IBEC committed with the creative talent of the future
The Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) is the first research center to take part in the “Creative talent and Business” initiative launched by the Catalan Government.
Bioengineering involves addressing, understanding and solving highly complex problems in biomedicine. Research in nanomedicine, cell and tissue engineering, and new technologies for health will greatly change the way we face medical challenges.
Education award for IBEC’s outreach activities
IBEC has been awarded the “Segell de Qualitat Educativa” (seal of educative quality) by the Consell De Coordinació Pedagògica of Barcelona City Council’s Institute of Education, an educational network that includes 155 institutions and organizations that offer educational activities.
This recognition is of the quality of IBEC’s outreach activities that the institute carries out for school pupils, teachers, the general public, and many other audiences.
