The Cellular and Molecular Mechanobiology Group is looking for a Post-doctoral researcher to work on mechanotransduction in breast epithelial cells. The contract will be within the framework of our research project, aiming to understand how cell adhesion, mechanotransduction, and nuclear forces regulate breast cancer.
Observed in vivo the collective movement of nanorobots
A team of researchers led by Samuel Sánchez from IBEC has monitored, for the first time, the behaviour of a swarm of nanorobots inside living mice. The study, published in the prestigious journal Science Robotics, reveals a coordinated movement, which could result in a very promising future in the field of precision medicine.

One more step towards early detection of Alzheimer’s
Benedetta Bolognesi, junior group leader at IBEC, appears in different media for a recent study published in the eLife magazine. In the study they show the first map with all the possible mutations in the amyloid beta peptide and tested how they influence its aggregation into plaques, a pathological hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease.
IBEC and the NEN Association join forces against childhood neuroblastoma
The association of “Families and Friends of Children with Neuroblastoma” (NEN) and IBEC sign a collaboration agreement to search for new therapeutic markers for this type of cancer, through the generation of models based on engineering techniques. The project will be led by Dr. Áranzazu Vilasante, IBEC researcher.
The Spanish Nanomedicine Platform coordinated by IBEC receives a new boost
The Spanish Nanomedicine Platform (Nanomed Spain) has renewed the “Aid to Technological and Innovation Platforms” for the period 2021-2022 granted by the Ministry of Science and Innovation. Josep Samitier, director of the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia, coordinates the Nanomed Spain platform since its foundation in 2005.
