IBEC joins EBRAINS: an international platform to support brain research

IBEC is the newest associate member from EBRAINS, an International not-for-profit association born at Human Brain Project (HBP), with, by, and for researchers. Its purpose is to create and coordinate an international infrastructure to promote brain research, providing digital tools and services as software, hardware, consultancy, and facilities to support researchers to face challenges in brain research and brain-inspired technology development.

“Lessons and challenges after two years of pandemic” a FECYT report with IBEC collaboration

Yesterday, the report “Lessons and challenges after two years of pandemic” was presented at the Carlos III Health Institute in Madrid, the first in a series of studies on trends in Spanish research that the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) will carry out each year and which will analyze current scientific issues.

IBEC’s “Bioengineering at the Rural School” project makes the leap to Europe

The “Bioengineering at the Rural School” project, led by the Strategic Initiatives unit of the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), is being projected to different European countries in an event organized by the European Network eTwinning, the European online platform for school education, where primary and secondary school teachers from all over Europe have connected to learn, first hand, about different strategies to follow to connect schools in rural environments with cutting-edge education in different fields.

Microfabspace & Microscopy Characterization Facilities, part of NANBIOSIS, renews as a Singular Scientific and Technical Infrastructure 

NANBIOSIS, the Singular Scientific and Technical Infrastructures from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation that counts with the Microfabspace & Microscopy Characterization Facilities from IBEC, recently renewed its permanence in the Council for Scientific, Technological and Innovation Policy, the ICTS 2021-2024, in an event chaired by the Minister of Science and Innovation, Diana Morant.

IBEC promotes scientific and innovation culture, and renews as a unit accredited by the ministry

The Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) is once again accredited as a member of the Network of Units of Scientific Culture and Innovation (UCC+i), through the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), under the Ministry of Science and Innovation. IBEC’s UCC+i promotes actions and programs for scientific communication, dissemination and education.

IBEC renews the accreditation ‘HR Excellence in Research’ from the European Commission

IBEC has been awarded for the second time the ‘Human Resources Excellence in Research’ from the European Commission, in recognition of its commitment to continuously improving its HR policies. With multiple actions in line with The European Charter of Researchers and The Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter and Code), IBEC renews the logo for the next three years.

Unique resonance technology in Spain to study cellular metabolism, hosted by IBEC

A Dynamic Nuclear Polarisation (DNP) Polariser for Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) has been recently installed at IBEC, being the only one in operation in Spain, and among the few ones existing in Europe. This equipment can improve up to 10000 folds the signal compared to a conventional NMR procedure and allows for the study of cellular metabolism in real time.
